About RCN Business
RCN Business is a facilities-based provider serving the metropolitan areas of New York City, Boston, Chicago, Washington DC, Philadelphia, and Lehigh Valley, PA with more than 6,000 miles of wholly-owned fiber. The advanced fiber network is highly redundant and diverse enabling businesses to experience exceptional performance, fast installations and world-class customer service. With the recent acquisition of Grande Communications and the completion of its pending acquisition of Wave Broadband, RCN will become the sixth largest cable MSO in the country.
The Challenge
RCN Business wanted to increase its market penetration in the commercial space and make more effective use of a vast network of Master Agents that broker telecommunications and cloud services in the U.S. RCN started its agent program in New York City in January 2015 and by early 2016 decided to expand the program into its other markets. The overriding goal was to drive sales by increasing agent awareness of RCN, the reach of its wholly-owned fiber network and the competitive advantages of its data and voice product lines.
The Solution
RCN Business teamed with Convey Services who manages a cloud-based platform that hosts and delivers content, training, events and promotions for more than 40 master agents, representing over 16,000 subscribed sales agents across the country. The Convey network currently provides RCN Business with direct access to sales agents from select master agents including the 17 members of the Alliance Partners and the seven members of the Technology Solutions Xchange (TSX).
The Results
RCN Business has seen marked increases in overall activity since joining Convey in November of 2016. According to Patrick Dial, Channel Sales Program Manager for RCN Business, "By leveraging Convey's access to the agent network and through posting a regular stream of sales materials, promotions and SPIFFs, RCN Business has increased the number of views of its product content and has seen a significant increase in quotes and sales."
Mike Carrosquilla, SVP at RCN Business also noted that, "When we launched our channel program two years ago we knew our differentiated product offerings would provide significant opportunities for sales partners, we just needed a way to reach them. Convey has given us an effective way to leverage this vast network of agents and we are very pleased with the sales results and look forward to continuing this momentum."
RCN Business recently received PCMag's "2017 Readers' Choice Award for Best Internet Service Provider." This is the second year in a row that RCN Business has won this award. In addition to being voted the best Internet Service Provider (ISP), RCN Business ranked highest in overall value and likelihood of being recommended to friends and colleagues.
